A cute cosmetic tool and its clever cleanser
Posted Wednesday, December 02, 2009 by Marci Robin Zitner, NewBeauty Senior Online Editor
Over the last few years, I couldn't help noticing how many celebrities and their makeup artists seemed to be obsessed with a small, soft, egg-like object called the beautyblender. If you're not already familiar with it, this elliptical sponge has replaced fingers and brushes as the way many of the most flawless faces chose to apply foundation.

I've become increasingly intrigued by the beautyblender, but one thing has always kept me from actually trying it: how do you clean this thing without altering its effectiveness?

As if someone was reading my mind, the beautyblender duo pack appeared on my desk. Alongside the little pink implement was something I didn't know existed: the blendercleanser. No, it's not a makeup remover for your face-it's for the beautyblender itself.

You simply wet the beautyblender and add a little of the blendercleanser, gently scrubbing it to the point of a low-suds lather. The soy-based formula keeps the beautyblender hygienic, removing lingering makeup, as well the oil and dirt that has transferred from your face.

I love how this lavender-scented wash extends the life of the beautyblender, but eventually it's wise to replace it. And when that time comes, the brand even offers a special eco-friendly recycling program called blendersender.

Needless to say, I'm no longer hesitant to use this adorable, intelligent tool.
