The word "permanent" implies that it will last forever, but to keep the make-up looking fresh, then future applications are required. Average time for an "enhancement" or "touch-up" would be ~ 3-5 years. If nothing is done to the area to enhance it, then it could visually be available from 5+ years.

The application of permanent make-up is done with either topical or injected numbing agents. The eyeliner and eyebrows only need a topical product for numbing, whereas, the lips require some injections in order to make the procedure more comfortable.
