Are Restalyne injections safe?

« back to Restalyne

Restylane® was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2003 and has been used successfully by dermatologists and plastic surgeons worldwide for ten years. Because Restylane® is a fully biodegradable and biocompatible gel based on a natural substance, there is little or no risk of allergic reactions that can sometimes occur as a result of treatments that utilize animal-derived fillers. Therefore, no pre-testing is required. In addition, as Restylane® breaks down it becomes water and carbon dioxide and can be safely absorbed and eliminated by the body, leaving no trace behind.

Although no problems or side effects have been reported, Restylane® is not recommended for women who are pregnant.
