How does Restalyne compare to other wrinkle reduction options?« back to RestalyneOne of the questions we are asked most often about Restylane® is how it compares to the other wrinkle correction treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and Collagen Replacement Therapy. Unlike Restylane® which adds volume to the skin by replacing a naturally occurring substance that diminishes as we age to restore volume and shape, BOTOX® Cosmetic targets the muscles below the surface of the skin and relaxes them so that the skin lies more smoothly. As a result, BOTOX® Cosmetic is often more appropriate for the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles while Restylane® acts as a filler below the skin to restore the natural fullness that has been lost over time and can more successfully treat deep wrinkles and furrows. Restylane® and Collagen Replacement Therapy are both dermal fillers that replace substances that naturally occur in the human body. Collagen is a natural protein found throughout the body that creates a web or network of fibers to support the shape and elasticity of the skin. Over time, like hyaluronic acid, wear and age diminish the amount of collagen supporting the skin causing lines, wrinkles, and reduced volume. The most significant difference between Restylane® and Collagen Replacement Therapy is that many of the collagen products available today are derived from animal-based proteins and carry with them a risk of allergic reaction. As a result, a simple pre-testing procedure is required before Collagen Replacement Therapy can begin. At Persona, Restylane®'s results have been so favorable that we no longer offer Collagen Replacement Therapy for facial lines and wrinkles. Although each treatment option has its own unique benefits, many of our clients have found Restylane® to be longer-lasting and more economical in the long-term. Schedule a complimentary consultation at Persona today and we will help you decide which treatment option is right for you.
